Take the 2KM Challenge!
In North America, the average car makes 2,000 trips a year that are shorter than 3 km. Replacing these trips with walking, cycling or taking public transit (active transportation) is a significant way of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, saving on fuel costs and living a healthier life.
"I will walk, cycle or take public transit to destinations within 2km of my home with the goal of reducing my vehicles trips by 10%, or 2,000km/year. This will improve my health, save money and reduce my personal greenhouse gases by 1/2 tonne."
