ARCHIVE OF PAST WALKING EVENTS: HISTORICAL TOUR - Eastbound from Flagpoles at Sam Lawrence Park along Concession Street with historian Jerry Johansen - Thursday, October 1st, 2009, 7:00pm Richard Reble is back to offer another great tour of the Escarpment Trails. The hike will run for about 1.5-2 hours, and will be meeting at the top of the Wentworth Stairs. This time we will travel westbound along the Bruce Trail for a wonderful view of Hamilton from the escarpment. Enjoy the fresh outdoors and the setting sun on this wonderful trail hike. Please come with good walking shoes and a bottle of water. Events will also be posted on the Concession Street Walks project page. Optional pub stop to follow. EVENING HIKE - Eastbound Bruce/Rail Trail Hike along the Escarpment with leader Richard Reble - Thursday, July 23rd, 2009, 7:00pm This 1.5-2 hr. hike starts at the top of the Wentworth Stairs and travels eastbound along the escarpment before returning to the start. Enjoy a beautiful sunset while enjoying the Hamilton's city-scape from above. Participants are asked to wear good walking shoes, and to bring a bottle of water. We will leave promptly from the top of the Wentworth Stairs at 7:00pm. BIKE HIKE - Mountain Brow Bike Hike to Albion & Buttermilk Falls with leader Dwayne Brown - Saturday, July 4th, 2009,1:00pm This mountain-brow bike hike is a wonderful way to experience the great view of Hamilton from the mountain brow near Concession. We will be meeting at Mountain Park (by Upper Gage and Concession Street) at 1pm for a fun cycling information session & bike hike to the waterfalls. A short break for photos will be taken at Albion and Buttermilk falls. It will be a beautiful sunny day, so please be sure to bring your helmets, sunscreen, and lots of water.
NIGHT HIKE - With Iroquois Bruce Trail hike leader Richard Reble - Thursday, Feb 26th, 2009, 7:00pm This 1.5 - 2 hr. hike starts at the foot of the escarpment stairs on Dundurn St. S. We'll start precisely at 7:00 p.m. Bring a bottle of water and wear boots. If you haven't yet experienced the blackness of the woods on a moonless night, it's time you did. Put aside your fear of the dark. Lighten up. Who knows what bright ideas might take shape in your mind when you are brave enough to step over to the dark side?
