Football Fanatics Fun day (under $25)
Learn about the history of Hamilton football or examine the evolution of football equipment at the Canadian Football Hall of Fame.  With HSR day pass in hand, buy one adult admission and receive a free child's admission.   To get to the Football Hall of Fame from Gore Park, walk south on James St. South, turn right on Jackson St. W for two blocks – the hall of fame will be on your right.   
Once you’ve filled your brain with tons of football facts and trivia why not zip down to Gage Park to throw the old pigskin around?  Gage Park is surrounded in interesting century old trees and filled with large open areas perfect for a pickup game or stroll.   To get to Gage Park, walk back to Gore Park and take any number 5 bus heading East and jump off at Gage Park (travel time 10 minutes).   Now that you’ve worked up a huge appetite, consider affordable and delicious Mexican food at Poco Loco and receive a 10% discount, located on Ottawa Street North and Roxborough Avenue.

Discover the Discovery Centre on Discovery Drive (under $30)

From McNab St. Bus terminal by the convention centre, take the number 4 Bayfront North and jump off at the corner of James and Burlington St.  East.  Walk north on James St. for one block and turn East on Guise St. and North on Discovery Drive (10 Minutes walk from bus stop).  A great destination for all ages, experience hands-on, innovative and interactive exhibits that highlight Canada’s incredible natural water features.  If it’s your first visit to the Discovery Centre allocate at least an hour for the tour.  Pack a lunch and have a picnic on the park grounds.  The waterfront park has rolling hills that buffer the hard industrial skyline.  You won’t be able to miss the the spectacular public art installation “Rafaga – Unleashed” by Edwin Dam De Negales a focal point of the park.  After lunch return to the Gore park on bus number 4 south and grab a bite at Bread and Roses Cafe OR Reardon's Meat OR Thai Memory - all located on King William Street, just off James Street North.

H.M.C.S. Haida Historic Harbour Tour ( under $20)

From McNab St. Bus terminal by the Convention Centre, take the number 4 Bayfront North and jump off at the corner of James and Burlington St.  East.  Walk north on James St. for one block and turn East on Guise St. and North on Discovery Drive (10 Minutes walk from bus stop).  H.M.C.S. Haida is the last remaining example of the 27 Tribal Class destroyers built for the Royal Canadian Navy during world war two. It has been said that The Tribals were "magnificent in appearance, majestic in movement and menacing in disposition".   End this historical tour with a discounted bite to eat at Williams Coffee Pub or a concessions at Waterfront Scoops Ice Cream Parlour.

A Day at the Beach (under $25)

Bus number 10 (15 minutes) and jump off at Parkdale transfer to Parkdale bus #11 head north (15 minutes) to Beach Blvd.  The first bus stop on Beach Blvd. will drop you one hundred meters from Lakeland pool.  On a warm day enjoy a dip at the pool and splash pad run by the Conservation Authority.  Bring a blanket and picnic lunch to enjoy on the beach at the best place in Hamilton to skip stones with miles of flat smooth rock shores or spend the afternoon watching ships sail into through the canal into the harbour.  Return again and enjoy miles of waterfront trail ideal for rollerblading or watch the waterfowl and fishermen in their hunt for fish.  If picnics are not your fancy, then there are many fantastic diners, cafes and restaurants.

YMCA: Family Swim or Family Fitness (under $10)

A day of healthy family fun at the YMCA on James Street South: enjoy a swim in the pool or a fitness workout just for trying out our Family Day Pass.  And after your family is all tuckered out from your day of activities have a snack at JC’s Bagel Café.  If you are coming from west Hamilton: take the 5 Delaware Bus, for those from the east: take the 1 King St. bus and for those of you coming from the escarpment:  take the 25 Upper Wellington bus or the 26 Upper Wentworth bus. YWCA: Have a Splash!

For a morning energizer or an afternoon cool down, nothing beats a swim in the pool with the whole family.  The YWCA is conveniently located downtown at 75 McNab Street South.  So after having a picnic by the fountain in Gore Park or strolling around Hamilton’s lively streets bring the family for buy one get one free swimming admission at the YWCA.
