You can make a big difference by making small changes.
Why are we doing this?
Each Canadian produces - on average - five and half tonnes of greenhouse gases a year as a result of on-going actions such as driving, heating our homes and using electricity or other energy produced with fossil fuels. More tonnes have been added to the atmosphere during the production of most of the goods we own.
When greenhouse gases are released into our atmosphere, they trap heat and cause increases in average global temperature and other climatic effects.
Canada and most other countries of the world have committed to reducing their greenhouse gas emissions. Individuals have a big role to play in this goal.
The Taking Action on Climate program welcomes the participation of all Hamiltonians.
